Recognized for his crisis communications expertise, Rick has helped build, protect, and repair reputations during bankruptcies and restructurings, downsizings, earnings surprises, environmental emergencies, felony convictions, IPOs, labor negotiations and work stoppages, litigations, management transitions, mergers and acquisitions, product recalls and tampering, proxy fights and more.
Previously he was president of GCI Group, San Francisco, and managing director of the firm’s Americas corporate communications practice. Rick also worked at Hill+Knowlton Strategies in several executive roles: senior vice president and general manager for Northern California; deputy director of the global technology practice; and, national director of special situations, where he oversaw the firm’s financial relations practice. His early career experience included managing corporate communications functions for several energy firms, including a Fortune 500 oil field services company.
A former board member of the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation, Rick has also donated his time as a guest speaker and instructor for the United States Air Force, University of California San Francisco, H+K Strategies College, PRSA Counselors Academy and chapter meetings, National Investor Relations Institute, and various business networking groups.
Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in public relations from Boston University, he is an active mentor to people in the areas of communications and leadership.
Rick’s interests away from work include cooking, fly-fishing, football and hockey.
